“Dreaming of” is a very open-ended phrase. It could be talking about the stories that your brain tells you while you sleep, or it could represent what you’d like to accomplish. In my mind, this song (originally written with lyrics despite being performed instrumentally here) is talking about a person who desperately wants to be the one that their love interest is dreaming of. What can that person do to be the one that their love is constantly thinking about — consciously or unconsciously? This smooth, dreamy concept is performed with 2 contrasting latin-esque rhythms to create a recording that is energized and grooving. The regular back-and-forth of a latin-jazz inspired Cha Cha Cha beat and an Ahmad Jamal inspired “Poinciana” beat keeps the song engaging, yet familiar. It features inspired solos from Lucas Dubovik on the tenor saxophone, Ilhan Saferali on the piano, and Jacob Wutzke on the drums.
